El siglo XXI sigue
avanzando y con él la TISP,
luchando por su reconocimiento profesional, pero también adentrándose en nuevos
terrenos al compás de los tiempos y ampliando las áreas en las que los
intérpretes y traductores deben intervenir: violencia de género, conflictos
laborales, desarraigo escolar, violaciones de los derechos humanos,
extradiciones, por citar algunas. En el plano internacional, los conflictos
armados abiertos, los campos de refugiados, los juicios por crímenes de guerra
o la violación de los derechos humanos dibujan la necesidad de observar
diferentes principios éticos para diferentes situaciones. Todo ello influye,
sin duda, en la labor del intérprete y traductor y plantea cuestiones éticas e
ideológicas.
De ahí el título de
este volumen: (Re) Considerando ética e ideología en situaciones
de conflicto. En sus
páginas, el lector encontrará:
- Investigaciones sobre cuestiones éticas derivadas de la actuación de intérpretes y traductores en situaciones de conflictos armados;
- Descripciones de acciones llevadas a cabo por intérpretes y traductores que han intervenido en casos de víctimas de guerra, abuso sexual o solicitudes de asilo y refugio;
- Debates sobre conflictos y enfrentamientos ideológicos que surgen en el campo de traducción e interpretación;
- Análisis de aspectos relacionados con los avances de TISP en las instituciones locales, nacionales e internacionales, bajo la influencia en la Unión Europea de la Directiva 2010/64/UE relativa al derecho a interpretación y a traducción en los procesos penales.

The
21st century continues
to advance and along with it, TISP; fighting for professional
recognition and exploring new territories, in step with the times. Due to the
crisis, immigration has stopped in some parts of the world and the attention is
now being focused on other problems that are creeping, little by little, into
the consciences of citizens and growing in the areas that translators and
interpreters should participate: domestic violence, labor conflicts,
educational uprooting, human rights violations, deportation, to name a few. In
an international scope, open armed conflicts, refugee camps, war crime trials,
or violation of human rights provoke similar effects and portray the need to
observe different ethic principles for different situations. This all
influences, without a doubt, the work of an interpreter and translator and
poses ethical and ideological questions.
Hence,
we have titled this volume: (Re) Considering Ethics and Ideology in Conflict
Situations. In its pages, the
reader will find:
- Research regarding ethical questions derived from the actions of interpreters and translators in armed conflict situations;
- Descriptions of actions carried out by interpreters and translators that have participated in cases of war victims, sexual abuse, or asylum/refugee petitions;
- Debates about conflicts and ideological confrontations that arise in the field of translation and interpretation;
- Analysis of aspects related to the advances in TISP in local, national, and international institutions, under the influence of European Union from the Directive 2010/64/EU by the European Parliament and the Council on October 20th, 2010 regarding the right to interpretation and translation in criminal proceedings.
